In this interview Mr. Sheehy discusses his legal career, attending college, studying law, working for the Jardean Law firm in Great Falls, practicing law in Billings, formation of Hutton, Sheehy and Cromley partnership, appointment to the Montana Supreme Courty 1978-1991, and writing his opinions and dissents. John C. Sheehy was born in Butte, Mont. to Cornelius and Anne Sheehy in 1918. He attended the University of Montana where he received his law degree. Sheehy began practicing law in 1943 working in Great Falls and then moving to Billings. He was appointed to the Montana Supreme Court in 1978 and served as a justice until his retirement in 1991.
